Bones for soup?

Post by ilikepeanutbutter » Sat May 09, 2015 7:46 am

I'm not a big meat eater but I had more allergy testing done and I'm allergic to everything in bouillion. I was wondering, are there bones you can buy to make soup with? I have no idea  . I know it's common in the States.

Thanks!

Kat

Depending on where you live, your local supermarket usually has a "butcher" section. You can go and ask him/her to give you some bones.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

I live in Vantaa. Thanks for the idea! Any idea how much the soup bones would run?

I have no clue. I used to get them for free by being friendly to the butcher lady.
If you Google for keittoluut, you might find something helpful.

I found these speciality reindeer bones https://www.foodie.fi/#!/entry/6409820050372
They're 7,40/KG. I would expect a significantly cheaper price if you get regular chicken/beef/porkdirectly from the butcher. If they say they don't sell, just be a bit persuasive.

Oh I'm allergic to soy and celery which is in most bouillion. It sucks since I love bouillon but it's okay. Thankfully not allergic to salt :D.

Oh, okey.

I don't think a person could live if they were allergic to salt :D
It'd be worse than those people who are allergic to water.

Costs 4,40/kg at the butcher shop in hämeentie 5 (the orange one).

You know you've been too long in Finland when you read "bonus for soup" and start wondering what social benefit could this be, instead of re-reading

i just thought, there's a few halal butchers in finland (and most of them probably in the capital area) - they might have something for you, and also be interested in an extra bargain.
