Hello,
Can anyone provide me a basic standard cover letter in Finnish language for applying jobs like housekeeping, kitchen assistant and similar tasks. I know each cover letter is different, but I just need a standard one. So that I can get some idea how to write it.
Like; '' Minä olen.... Olen 25 vuotias....
......................................
Terveisin,
.........
Thanks in advance..

Re: Cover letter for job application in Finnish language
I know that the jobs I am going to apply doesn't require Finnish. (cleaning, restaurant etc.). However, if I write them in English, they may don''t even read my CV
I just need a very basic one..
Thanks..

So you want to take the first hurdle with a lie. And then expect a positive reaction when they discover your Finnish was fake.
Re: Cover letter for job application in Finnish language
If you want to impress them with a Finnish cover letter and not let them down greatly when they read more, CV, etc., then I suggest you put a bit more effort to it. You already have a good start, so why not put a bit more of yourself into it? You can search online for Finnish pages or courses, or books from the library, or even google translate + then confirm your findings on some Finnish course web site. There are plenty out there, and even links on this forum to those.
Also, you'd feel better about it, having gone to the trouble and doing it yourself. See, it doesn't have to be perfect Finnish because the employer will find out you don't speak it fluently yourself anyway, but the difference here is, that you have actually tried yourself, and done it with your current skill level (and with a little extra help from those websites or books). Now THAT would mean a whole lot more to the employer than you just using ready template or someone else's texts from here.
There is a Finnish saying: 'Valheella on lyhyet jäljet' - 'A lie has short tracks', that is: don't misrepresent yourself or deceive, as they will see through it or find out about it fast.

Voin kirjoitaa Suomeksi. But I was looking for some standardized format. Anyways, no problem.. I hope I manage somehow.. Thank you for your suggestions..
Re: Cover letter for job application in Finnish language
Cover letters usually have this simple format:
Code: Select all
[Greetings], [Name]
[Tell about yourself in 2-3 lines. Your experience. Your interests. (In other words, why you're awesome_]
[Show that you know about the company. Tell what caught your interest. (In other words, why they're awesome)]
[Tell why you want to work them in particular. What you can do for them. How they'll be benefiting you.(In other words, how you can be awesome together)]
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.
