flossy1978,
are you really telling us that you
- never jaywalked
- never touched the white, continuous line with your car tire
- never stayed for longer than 3 min in a no-parking zone
- never, ever traveled with an insufficient ticket
- never drank alcohol in public
- ...

and, more importantly, wouldn't feel mistreated if an officer of the law demanded the highest possible punishment for any of those delicts?

if you answered "no" to ALL of the above, well, then you are indeed a secular zealot

I never traveled without a proper ticket. Why would I intentionally break the law and face a huge fine? That's just stupid. It's not being a zealot or fundamentalist. It's common sense.

I may have inadvertently touched the white line while driving. But never intentionally.

I have never parked in a no parking zone. Why would I? It says not to, so I wouldn't. Again, why would I want a fine?

I don't drink. So that's a moot point.

As an under 18 year old I jaywalked. As an adult, no, not really. I value my life and wouldn't do it where I live now, because you can be fined. I'm capable of walking to traffic lights or zebra crossings. Suburban streets in housing areas with no lights or zebra crossings, there is no choice but to, so no one is breaking the law then.

Why is it so hard to believe there are honest people out in the world who don't go out of their way to do as they please, regardless of what the law says? I don't think it's okey to intentionally break the law, that's my choice.

And I have a child. I went shopping with him without any "starving" child problems. I never fed him food before paying for it. Most people don't. It's really not that difficult a thing to do. It's just one child. There are a lot of entitled parents in the world these days, who think because they have a child, they should get special treatment. Maybe that's why there are so many kids growing up f**ked up these days.

Sounds to me like a child that's learning how to get it's own way over a child that's genuinely hungry.

I've be glad It's still only a two year old thats crying when it doesn't get to eat when and what IT wants and not a four year old thats running around the place taking what it feels like.
not wanting to attack the OP here either, you are indeed free to raise your child as you wish but my own future peace of mind and setting my child up with the right code of conduct I'd try and stop the behavior ASAP.

Compromise is the key, if the kids starts screaming becasue it wants the candy give it the apple and it starts crying becasue it wants the apple give it the candy, if it throws a fit, "then I guess you're not hungry after all"

with kids it's all about mind tricks and game theory.
