Mention of Salaries in Bank Statement
Dear All,
Hope you'll be fine and well. I have got admission in Aalto University and I am soon going to apply for Student Resident Permit at Finnish embassy in Abu Dhabi. I contacted the embassy and they informed me that among the required documents a bank statement showing the funds (salaries) for the last 3 months is required. Actually my source of funding are my savings from my employment abroad and from last three months I have left my job and I am unemployed since then. My employer used to pay my salary in my bank account abroad and I was used to sent my savings in my bank account in my home country. Due to which I will not be able to present details of my salaries in the bank statement of my bank in my home country. I withdrew all my savings from my bank account abroad and transferred to my bank at home. I have employment contract and experience letter which I can present as a proof of my employment. My company didn't give salary slips and I have bank statement of my salary account which are two years old. Also I can not go back abroad because my job has ended and as I transferred all my savings to the bank at home they must have blocked my salary account. Do you think that such a situation would raise a suspicion in the eyes of visa officer at migri? Do you have any suggestion what can I do further? (By the way I can present a bank statement of more than a year and well enough the amount required for the Student Resident Permit).
(My home country is Pakistan and I was employed in Saudi Arabia for two years and in Qatar for 1 year)
Thank you for your help and assistance.

Re: Mention of Salaries in Bank Statement
I think there has been a misunderstanding here.
They do NOT ask for employment or salary proof neither as a primary source of funds nor a secondary. This, of course, applies to residence permits. All they need is to see (when it comes to finances) is that you have the ~7k EUR in your bank account in your name.

Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.
Re: Mention of Salaries in Bank Statement
The question about salaries might stem from the fact that some people have tried to loan money for a short time just to show "money in bank".adnan wrote:I think there has been a misunderstanding here.

Re: Mention of Salaries in Bank Statement
Thanks all of you for your help. Actually as I already mentioned that I was working as an expatriate in Saudi Arabia and Qatar and as I wasn't permanent there so I have my permanent Bank account in my home country and definitely I was sending money back home by my self so there isn't any record of receiving salary from an employer in the bank statement. I haven't applied yet I just asked them because I thought may be any extra letter from bank is also required because Finnish embassy in Nepal require a letter directly from the bank also. So, they replied me as follows: (Its copy from the original email)
"Bring:
your admission letter the one you received from Finland
bank statement showing your funds(salaries) for the last 3 months.
If you have a finance sponsor we need his/her bank statement for the last 6 months.
Health insurance valid for the first year in Finland.
Your school certificates or university degrees.
All must be originals.
For more information www.migri.fi"
So that's why I was confused. I don't have any family to take with me and as I have mentioned I have proof of more than 8000 euros in my account, where the requirement is only 6720 euros, and I have already prepared a bank statement of last 6 months. Another thing also came to my mind that they just want to know my source of savings (just wondering).
So overall guys if I have more than required amount for a continuous amount of time let's suppose 6 months than I don't have to be worried about what's your opinion??

Yes you got it right actually I have equivalent of 8400 euros but isn't there requirement is only 6720 euros per month. I read what migri has on their website before but email reply from Finnish embassy in UAE changed my mind. If that's the case that they only require either savings or salary proof than I shouldn't worry much about it because I have enough savings for a continuous amount of time.tummansininen wrote:I didn't quite follow your message - but have I understood correctly that you have enough savings to show that you can support yourself (the equivalent of 8400 euros in your CURRENT bank account, with a recent bank statement proving this)?
The only reason I can think of that they asked for proof of your salary is if you do NOT have enough savings in your current, own bank account, to meet the savings required. You do not have to meet BOTH a proof of salary AND enough savings. You need one or the other. Your responsibility is to prove that you are not going to become a financial burden on Finland. Read the requirements on Migri, if you meet them in one way, you have enough proof.

Ok now fresh updates I emailed directly to migri and after two days they answered me and that's what they said.tummansininen wrote:My sincere apologies - 8400 is the amount for bringing a spouse.Muneeb Abbassi wrote:Yes you got it right actually I have equivalent of 8400 euros but isn't there requirement is only 6720 euros per month. And yes, you can stop worrying, you have what they need.
"Hello,
the required amount of funds must be deposited on the student’s own bank account and the funds must factually be available for the student while in Finland. This means that the money must be on the student’s account when he/she arrives and resides in Finland and the student must have access to the account while in Finland.
A student coming to Finland should also be prepared to document the origin of his/her funds. For this, a bank statement from the last 6 months and official documentation of the origin of the funds such as pay slips or other documentation may be needed. So you can attach documents you mentioned to your application.
Kind regards"
I have attached my employment contract and the experience letters by applying through e-service in case they might wanna ask about the origin of the funds.
Re: Mention of Salaries in Bank Statement
I just attached all my documents to the online application portal for my student residence permit, but did not find any link to make the payment. I've submitted the application any ways. I am guessing that I've to pay the application fee (300 Euros) when I visit Finland Embassy for fingerprinting. Guys please let me know if we can may online payment or if you know any link to pay the application fee. One last thing, though it may be a silly question, but I just want to reconfirm this. I'm admitted to a 2-year masters degree program so do I need to show funds for 2 years i.e., 6270 X2=13440 or funds for one year are enough?
Please advise.
Cheers!!

One year is enough. However, you need to have a plan in place to be above the limit when the permit needs to be renewed in one year.praneeth wrote:I just attached all my documents to the online application portal for my student residence permit, but did not find any link to make the payment. Re: Mention of Salaries in Bank Statement
The payment option comes right after service point selection before submit tab. By the way you can pay your fees at the embassy just check at the embassy website. Only one year funds equivalent to 6720 euros are required this is also clearly mentioned in the FAQ's at migri website. Next year upon renewal you should have same amount available to you.
Re: Mention of Salaries in Bank Statement
I didn't get any such option to pay or maybe I've made some mistake. Any ways, I've taken a DD in favour of Embassy of Finland & submit that during my visit to embassy. Thanks for your time guys.
