how to move furniture cheap?

I'll move to Helsinki in a few months and I'm planning to buy a lot of my furniture second hand. I've noticed that there is always a problem with moving furniture, you usually ask a friend who owns a car to do so but that won't be available for me. so what other options do I have?

You could also rent a van, e.g. from city car club Helsinki. €10 / hour for members (might be worth it if you don't have a car but need one occasionally), from €15 / hour for non-members. Expensive if you need it for a whole day, but if you buy all your stuff and collect it in one swoop, it might work out quite cheap.

Thank you all for the helpful tips, I'll consider all of these options. Probably I'll eaither buy most of my heavy stuff from the same place or rent a guy with a van as I don't think I can get a drivers license soon. I think IKEA also provides such services? I heard its one of the cheapest places to buy furniture. I'll also check the recycling centers
Sorry about the beds, I'd have taken them but I'll arrive in August.

Ikea can actually work out incredibly cheap - I once had to kit out a 2 bedroomed/2 bath, open kitchen/living/dining+2 balconies literally over a weekend and got eveything I needed (all the same stuff is still in the apartment 7 years later! so it was durable too) in Ikea for under 2000e, beds, mattresses, linens, 2 couches, wardrobes etc. The problem is, if you cannot assemble it yourself or drive it home yourself the Ikea prices for delivery and assembly are expensive. (They wanted 200e to assemble a double bed and wardrobes which together cost 300.....)

Students are always looking for money so you could put an ad in a university, or someone on this forum will have kids who want to make a few bob.

If you know how long it sometimes takes to put it (correct and in 1 piece) in eachother. Just today did some items (was good wheather for it

) and had to copy myself another item because one piece was not in the manual. Other part only fitted with own screws. Still good idea though, parts are maybe 10 percent of the price you pay. Together doing it is a good test if you have a good relationship.
