Appointment from Embassy

Post by Muneeb Abbassi » Tue Jun 09, 2015 10:21 pm

Dear All,

During my application for student resident permit I have again struck by confusion. There is no Finnish embassy in my country so that's why I have to go to UAE for the identification process. I have recently got my UAE visa and I have also booked my flight after five days from now on but I haven't taken appointment from the embassy yet. I will contact them tomorrow but suddenly something came to my mind that whether the embassy will give me appointment according to my schedule or they will consider their own convenience. Actually there wasn't emphasized anywhere that the appointment should be taken a long time ahead. Instead I read on their facebook page as follows.
https://www.facebook.com/FinnishEmbassy ... 0420734524
At the end its clearly written " When you first get the UAE visa then you need to inform the Embassy of Finland about your flight schedule to Abu Dhabi to make an appointment accordingly. Please, don’t show up without appointment."
So now I am confused considering that I made all the arrangements and if they don't give me the appointment on time I would be way short of my schedule. So, if anyone who has just gone or going through this process can enlighten me on this issue. Do they entertain you as per you schedule? Please Guide.

In less than 12 hours, you'll call the embassy and get the best answer for your question tailored specifically for your case. Why ask here and confuse your self with generic and possible irrelevant information?
What if some unlucky person told you that they forced him to change flights? You'll stress more for nothing.
If it makes you feel better, from my experience with Finnish embassies, they're usually flexible with appointment times.

Now go o to sleep and call tomorrow.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

To the original poster.

It tells you in your post to organise a time according to your visa (flight as well I think) to the UAE. And they will make an appointment according to that.

What's there to stress over? They know people from outlying countries have to come to them. So they are probably very flexible :)

Well I contacted the Finnish Embassy yesterday and they told me that they can not give me an appointment on my desired date. They have given me a date which is 3 weeks later than my desired date. Now I have no option other than that and I have confirmed the date they have given me. Well it was a lesson. Let's see how much would this effect my arrival in Finland ?

A whopping three weeks probably won't make much of a difference in the scheme of things.

Well, if they have the money to come study in Finland, maybe the loss of a flight ticket isn't so big :)
