To get your finish Citizenship you have to speak Finish?
To get your finish Citizenship you have to speak Finish?
To get your finish Citizenship you have to speak Finish? It seems like this is a requirement according to the migri.fi website? (The National Certificate of Language Proficiency (YKI) completed at level 3 or higher...) is that a hard level? How long would that take to learn?
Re: To get your finish Citizenship you have to speak Finish?
Yes it's a requirement.
People learn differently. A few days ago there was a story about an Asian girl who reached C1 (level 5) in 3 years. Then you hear about others who spent 4-5 years to get to A2 (level 2).
So don't use others as a measurement for yourself. Your milage WILL vary.

It's not a total general requirement (but practically, it will be for the OP). You could apply for Finnish citizenship by showing good Swedish skill too, it doesn't have to be Finnish (also sign language, or even get a special deal if you can show that you have a medical reason not to learn the language). Also, some people can make a declaration of citizenship (that's what I did) and then you might not have to prove any language skills.
(Adnan's reply is the 95% correct one and surely applies to the OP, I'm just adding info here in case other people end up in the thread looking for info).

The real question is of course what you want to do with the Finnish citizenship.
Long-term unemployed immigrant tummansininen will of course be happy to discuss job opportunities for a Finnish citizen in the 40s who speaks Finnish only at the low level required for citizenship with you.

In Minnesota, all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average. (Now that's just a fact - and facts never lie.)tummansininen wrote:
Also: you would not believe how many people think they will be faster than average because they think they are motivated or will just work harder than everyone else. But really, most people are... average, and will take average time, even if they say they will study harder than average.
I figure the women must be mostly of Finnish extraction; the men must have a lot of Swede and Norwegian in them; and the children are above average because a lot of recent Asian immigration has boosted scores above their historical mean.
So where in all this are the Danes and Icelanders?
They were smart enough not to move out to the middle of the damn prairie in the first place.
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.

Hmm.. I had always thought you are. You always refer to yourself as "old lady", so I thought you were in your late 40s.tummansininen wrote:I'm not in my 40s yet

Mina puhootku palian sumia ha ha.....well it's coming back to me. I grew up around it enough that I'm amazed at how fast I'm learning.
