Baby Vaccination in Finland

Post by shekhar » Tue Jul 07, 2015 1:24 pm

Hi,

I am planning to bring my 4 month kid from India to here in Finland.

In India we have vaccination chart, As per that I need to give him Heptitis-B next.

Can anyone tell how do I complete Indian Vaccinations done in Finland and costs and where can I buy?

Is it better if I carry from India or buying here?

Are there any other mandatory vaccinations I need to do here?

Kid will be here may be for 4 or 5 months.

Thanks in advance
Akash

The national vaccination program briefly in English:

(Google seems to work for deciphering the abbreviations)

Based on your previous posts it seems the baby would be covered by the national health insurance system, so these would be free of charge. You could get them in the local health care center/Neuvola. Vaccinations are not mandatory, but highly recommended.

If you want to get something not on the list probably it would cost more here, but I would very least think twice thinking about importing anything. There is both the question can you store it properly during transit and then checking are you violating any medical imports law (I don't know).

Hepatitis vaccination is not given to all here. Presumably you'd need to get it from either from some private clinic or first get a prescription, pick it from pharmacy and then go to a health care center / terveyskeskus to have it administered.

Hepatitis b vaccine costs 50e for one time, and they use only half from that bottle for small kids. It has to be done like 3 times in specific intervals. I bought the same from pharmacyand need prescription.

I think you may not be able to bring from abroad, as it has to be kept in cold temp as per guidelines.
