500 Euros Banknote in shops ?

Hi Forum,

At normal shops e.g. S-Market or Lidil, Can I pay with 500 Banknote (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/500_euro_note) ?

To best of my understanding they (supermarkets belonging to large chains) don't have a policy not to accept them, but sometimes they might simply lack the necessary change to do so (to reduce risk of robbery and theft many places keep relatively small amounts of cash at the cashier).

I guess it depends how much you spend. One bunch of bananas and a doughnut... they might be difficult.

Prisma might be the best place... because well.. it has S-pankki branch. So, they should have money. In fact, a couple of years ago, I had changed my smaller notes to 500 euro notes there so that I could easily carry them on plane to my home country.
