How Uber and Airbnb can be tolrerated?

Where to buy? Where can I find? How do I? Getting started.

I agree. I was checking the rates at the brand new Radission Torni in Tampere and a room was 116e / night for two people. And, as you point out, Omena is there for budget travelers. One of the places where I work uses it as it is so close to the city centre.

If so I think I need to look at my research again! There are a few chains in the US that are putting kitchens into their rooms, but only in major cities. I didn't know rooms with kitchen facilities are available in Helsinki for those prices :?
Isn't kitchens usually in the realm of hostels, not hotels?

No, if you stay in hotels three or four months a year you don't want to eat out every one of those nights. I have a favourite Sheraton in Munich where some rooms have a mini kitchen and I've stayed in nice hotels in Canada and Dubai with kitchens. I'd choose the kind with a kitchen anytime. The worst kind of hotels are where you can't even put your own food in the minibar, there are sensors and you are charged the moment you take anything out of the fridge. I at least want to put a carton of milk in the fridge to have with a cup of tea!
And the meal thing isn't really a question of money, for me it's about time. I don't want to spend two hours each night having dinner in some restaurant, not when you're travelling for many months each year.

Actually, I find plenty of airbnb offers in the 50-100€ category in Helsinki. If I put in a search for one guest, without dates, there are more than 1,000 offers, and even if I want a "whole place", there are still 945 offers between €50 and €100. The average price in Helsinki for "entire flats / houses" is €74 per night; for private rooms it's €43 (€53 if you require breakfast to be included), and for shared rooms it's €28.

It would be great to get some statistics, for example on occupancy rates, how they differ depending on price, features, number and score of reviews, response time of the owner, etc, and for different cities. I am certain airbnb monitor these figures precisely, but of course, they are not going to be published, and it would take some effort to try and reverse-engineer them. It would also be fascinating to do a test on prejudices amongst airbnb hosts using profiles that show different socioeconomic and ethnic profiles, in different cities, etc. I am 100% certain this is being done, probably more than once...
