Hi all,
I am an EU, pl/uk citizen and I will soon depart for my 3rd year to study in Finland. I specialise in field of IT.
Here's the thing: emigration will happen at some point, I am also planning to do master's degree in Finland. What are my chances of getting my 4th year done in Finland as well and not jump from country to country for the next 3 years?
I have already visited Finland, I have been to few IT companies for a quick visit, what are my chances of getting a job in Finland after my studies? I also have plan to learn Finnish, already made arrangements for that. I know it will be hard, but not impossible. I will be living with Finnish person so my use of English will be limited to university time.
You are more than welcome to share your knowledge and opinions!
Thanks,
Mike
Uni transfer between countries
Re: Uni transfer between countries
There won't be automatic transfer, you would need to apply for international master degree program and fulfill the basic admission requirements, ie. a completed bachelor degree in the related field.Loomiks wrote: I am also planning to do master's degree in Finland. Depends what was purpose and the outcome of your quick visits. Visiting companies doesn't get you job. If you are good in your field there will be chances for you.Loomiks wrote: I have been to few IT companies for a quick visit, what are my chances of getting a job in Finland after my studies?

First of all, I highly recommend that you finish your degree before coming to Finland. This way, you can directly apply for Master's. I've already been through the transfer process, and I've lost many credit points. I've transferred from a Finnish educational institution to another Finnish educational institution, between two programs that have the same name. I lost nearly 40% (85 credits at the time.. nearly 1.5 years of study.. poof) of my credits.
Be very careful with the transfer and agree on what will be transferred beforehand. If you're gonna lose more than 30 credits, then just finish your 4th year and then come to Finland.
As for work, it's complicated. The job market is bad. Unemployment is at 10%, with youth unemployment at 20%. It's gonna be tough. So you'll need to have some special talent to attract employers.

Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.
