Transfer from one UAS to another.

Post by agksam » Sun Aug 09, 2015 10:41 pm

I have heard from different sources that it is possible to transfer from one UAS to another after the first year.
my questions are is it really realistic ? do UAS's release their students to join other UAS easily after year one?
secondly what are the conditions a student must meet for him to be able to seek transfer to another UAS.
Again do UAS reject or refuse students from seeking transfer to their UAS?
please I really need an explanation to all these questions from people who has had first hand experience or understanding of this transfer issue.
Thanks

If there are open places, then one can be accepted as transfer student. So there needs to be students that have transferred or dropped out.

Transfer can effectively happen in two ways:
1- Regular transfer: You apply for transfer to the new UAS and wait for the decision. They have a certain criteria which is different between each UAS and another.
2- Apply to the new one normally and take the entrance exam. After you're accepted, you can quit your current UAS and transfer your credits .

Each of those two ways has its own application and its own procedure that you can find on the UAS website. Do note that it's very likely that you'll lose some credits in the transfer process.

so does that mean I have to find out from the UAS if there is an open place or not? but can I ask different UAS at the same time?

@Adnan....thank u very much for your explanation. but what happens if I leave my current UAS and sit for an entrance examination in another UAS and I fail to pass the exam does that mean I automatically lose my place in my former UAS ?

I've just realized that I might be wrong in that particular part. I don't think you need to quite your current UAS before you apply. I believe the restriction applies only if you were accepted in the same year.
Since you were accepted in the last study year, then there shouldn't be an issue applying while still in your current UAS.

There are probably people in your UAS (student counselor) who can help you with that. I think most UAS are quite keen to fill empty places with transfer students who have plenty of credits because they get will get funding when you finally graduate, whereas the UAS you transfer out of, won't.
