Did you make an application to Kela? The target processing time is 19 days:krmoanh wrote:HI.i already went to te-palvelut on end of may then they send me to take test finnish language

After toke the test I didn't go kela cause no once told me. I just though kela they will send me letter in my address and that's it. Do u think I have to go kela now and ask them about it .
Re: Questions for unemployment
Also, do you have a degree/diploma of some sort? Vocational training (of several years studying, a few months or 1 year courses don't count), university or other degree? If not, have you worked in any company in Finland yet - at least 26 weeks (approx. 5 months)? I
f you're on the job market, i,e. unemployed, in Finland for the first time, there will also be a 5 month waiting period until you start to get any unemployment benefits. Countdown starts from the day you apply in TE and make the application to Kela, as well.

See Kela website for other information, as well.

Re: Questions for unemployment
I have Bachelor Degree and have worked for about 8 years, but I enter the Finland job market for the first time. Do I need to wait for 5 months for my first unemployment benefit? By the way, does anybody know approximately how much it is for one month?
Many thanks!
Many thanks!

Re: Questions for unemployment
For 2015 the basic unemployment benefit is 32,80€/day (paid for 5 days per week). Have you already checked http://www.kela.fi/web/en ? If not, I suggest you do that, and use the Kela contact information for what you cannot find on their site. There's nothing wrong as such with asking things on the forum, but the officials are there to assist you on these matters, others can just pretty much quote what has been stated on their website, or tell their own experiences, which may not be applicable to your case.

Thanks for your reply
By the way, I think that I am asking about the same issue so I do not want to make a new thread.

Re: Questions for unemployment
This is how it went for me and all very recently.
I bought a house with my Girlfriend when arrived in Finland within a month of being here.I had to live with my girlfriend for 6 months before i could apply for a Kela card. (Prove it was a legitimate relationship i guess? ) Anyway somebody mentioned that the application was 19 days...Mine was a lot longer than that..Not sure but around 5 weeks. I did the application online (Swedish & Finnish language only)
I could not register as a job seeker until i had been accepted by Kela and received my Kela card. (now at the 8 month stage of being in Finland)
After that i was able to register as a job seeker with TE Office which i also did online. After registering the TE Office then wrote a statement to Kela to state that i was a job seeker and was entitled to benefits. As i don't have a degree and as someone mentioned before i have to wait approx 5 months and can apply again for the benefits. (Online)
Just to add i was never asked about doing any language test at all during any visit to the TE Office. They informed me of some places to go where i can learn the language. I had already investigated this and in fact its tomorrow when i start a 6 month course (Swedish because of area i live) which i have funded myself.
In October i can apply for benefits again which will take me to the 13 month point of being in Finland.
I am certainly not complaining about this so we are clear. I just did my homework and read about all this. If you know these things take time then no problem. Anyone coming here and thinking they are going to get benefits right away..think again...and quite rightly so..
I was not even going to register as a jobseeker or indeed claim any benefit...However getting a job proved harder than i expected so i chose another route. The language being my only real hurdle when applying for jobs. Swedish will certainly help me in this area.
Hopefully some of this may help other members.
Waiting patiently
Graham..

Forgive me my nonsense as I also forgive the nonsense of those who think they talk sense.
