Helsingin Aikuislukio Finnish Courses

Post by numb » Tue Aug 25, 2015 5:48 pm

Hello everyone,

A few weeks ago I applied to the intensive finnish course offered by Helsingin Aikuislukio and today I received a letter of admission. Accompanying the letter, there was a 'rules' sheet which got me a little bit confused. It included weird instructions such as 'don't talk to your classmates during class', 'throw your trash into the trash bin', 'knock on the door if you're late' etc. The things that you don't normally need to remind adult students. I know what 'lukio' is but I just thought that it is an adult education class offered by a lukio. Did I accidentally registered to a high school course? A class for foreign high school students or something?

For a second I thought it might be a course for foreign high schoolers. Ok so good to know that I'm not going to end up in a classroom full of teenagers :)

And rude people will be rude regardless of their age or nationality, it is not usual to send out common-sense instructions with every class registration so this is still a bit weird.

Some people are on the courses just 'cause their integration plan says so and if they are not they don't get their dole -> adults acting as teenagers.

Is there anyone out there who could care to share their experience with this course?
I took courses from Helsingin Aikuisopisto, Työväenopisto and a few classes from Aalto but not from aikuislukio before. The only course that worked for me was the intensive one from aikuisopisto but unfortunately the schedule doesn't work for me anymore and they are extremely expensive (300-400eur)

You need to embrace multiculturalism and not be such a racist.

I wonder if aikuislukio offers any trolling courses as well cause there are lots of people around here who needs to polish up their trolling skills.
