Now that my student permit has expired, is it legal that I am still working? I asked the police twice but their answer was the same: "You can still stay in Finland after your permit has expired", I am not sure what they really mean

I talked to my supervisor last week about the situation and he said that he will ask for more info. Am I having any risk losing the job?

If you were already working when you had a student’s residence permit, you may continue working or start in a new job until a decision has been made on your new residence permit application.

Finally after more than 2 months, I finally got my work permit (for 1 year). When I got home, I took a better look at it and saw this "TYÖNTEKO-OIKEUS: ULKL 78 § 2M. (77 §1M. 1K.)" I am not sure what does it mean, Google Translate gives me "Type of work" and alien acts. I did another search and found the English version of Alien Acts, I guess §78 is section 78 but I don't know what do 2M. and 1M. 1K refer to? Can someone help me understand 2M. and 1M. 1K. thingy?

I wouldn't really rely on the English translation of the act because it describes the "spirit" and basic idea of the law, but not the law to the letter. Anyway, "M." is momentti, which is the sub-section inside the article (Pykälä) number 77 or 78. "K." is kappale, which is the exact "piece" referenced in the sub-section. If you look at the Finnish version you'd understand better https://www.finlex.fi/fi/laki/ajantasa/ ... 0301#L5P77
If you look at that section/article 77, check the first piece (you know, 1K.). It says
1) toimii yrityksen yli- tai keskijohdon taikka erityisosaamista vaativissa asiantuntijatehtävissä;
Which is the residence permit you applied for, which is "erityisosaamista vaativissa asiantuntijatehtävissä" or the specialist.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

So 78 § 2M. refers to this
Ulkomaalaisella, jolle on myönnetty muu oleskelulupa ansiotyötä varten, on luvan perusteen mukainen työnteko-oikeus. Myös muulla perusteella myönnetyn oleskeluluvan haltijalla on oikeus tehdä 77 §:n 1 momentin 1–5 kohdassa tarkoitettua työtä.
which is basically 77 § 1M. 1K.?

I wonder what will happen if I leave the current company and join a new one? Do I have to apply for a new work permit if my new salary is lower than 3000EUR (gross) per month?

For that, you need to contact Migri/Poliisi.

However, here's my understanding of the law:
That particular part of the sub-section applies to you because you're a specialist; it's considered as the grounds upon which your residence permit is granted. If you want to work under different conditions (non-specialist), then you need a new residence permit. A salary of under 3k is considered non-specialist.
So, in my own understanding, it seems like you're gonna have to apply for a new residence permit because new work market regulations will be applied.
But the question remains - will anybody care? I personally don't think so. Your new employer won't know what is article 77 or 78.

My advice: Despite the low likelihood of anything going wrong, don't take the chance and apply for a new permit if it turns out you need it after asking migri
