Banking in Finland for Students

Post by praneeth » Sun Aug 30, 2015 9:34 am

Hey guys,
Just wondering what is the best one to do banking in Finland? For example, i.e., I went to one bank the other day & they said they'll charge around 7 euros per month for maintaining the bank account. Are there are any banks who don't charge these maintenance fees. If possible can you compare between Nordea, Danske & Aktia banks especially for students please & suggest best one based on their offers.

Thanks for your time.

Cheers!!

It's like asking "Should I shoot myself in the head or the stomach?"
You'll probably die in both cases, but in the head it's faster. Yes, it's messy, but less painful than the stomach.

If I were you, I'd go for Aktia. Since I'm not you, I recommend Nordea. They have English pages, and they're generally mmokay.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

Before only Nordea and Danske offered all banking in English. I assume now OP is getting there. They usually have special plans for young people that don't have monthly fees.

Check Nordea, I don't think they charge ~7 Eur/month for account maintenance. Also if you are student or young (below 29) they have some discount on their services. Check this:

Danske Bank also offers discounts for students

Thanks guys, at the moment Nordea Bank seems to be a good option for International Students, as they have services in English & no account maintenance fee. I'll go ahead Nordea. Cheers!!
