Did not inform kela after moving out. Now back to Finland.

Hello all,

Today, I received a letter from Kela (below). Basically I did not inform them while I moved out of Finland temporarily to work in another Schengen country. I went to Maistratti and informed them. I was ignorant of the rules and thought that the information given to Maistratti would propagate to Kela as well. I made a big mistake. This is my first time I moved out of Finland for work. Now, I am back and made a fresh application as my Kela has expired. Received the letter below asking me the reason for the delay. Based of this reason they will consider if they can include me in the Finnish social security system or not. Do not know what to do. Please suggest. I have permanent residence permit.

You should get a native to fill the applications for you. Seems like you have made an application to extend coverage of Finnish social security while temporarily abroad instead of an application after moving back. Naturally Kela considered the application too late since the type of application you did must be done within a year after moving out (or after end of the previous coverage).

I suggest going to a Kela office and getting help from their agents if you don't have anyone else to figure the online system for you.
