Have you applied online? If yes, you can see your application status. Is it in the processing? If yes, then it won't take much time. If you haven't applied online, it might take a bit longer - I remember reading that somewhere on migri pages.

Thats the problem that i didn't apply online... so don't see any status...

Hei, I applied on 19th Feb and got result already. Did you have residence permit when you first came to Finland? If not, then you have to wait for 1,5 years. If yes, then call Migri.fi

I had residence permit when i came to finland... i applied in mid-march at pasila so will wait till oct mid and then call... any idea if there is delay in offiline application compared to online applications? any body received decision recently?

I don't think there is any different processing time between e-application and normal one. The tiny thing is that it will take time to send the notification to your house while with e-application you can check the notification right away. Otherwise it will take 7months. I can understand your impatience but we dont have other choices I used to check the status many times a day

Not me, but.. I guess being Finnish officially is mostly an emotional thing (for me) and little of practical nature, especially Tax related when getting pension form your previous country might be a reason not wanting it.

For me the benefits are limited to easier access to some government related services, both on-line and off-line and if any Finn accuses you of being just a stupid foreigner, you can show him you are just a stupid Finn by waving your passport to him/her

By the way, did you ever read the book Dr Zivago?

6 months and 2 weeks-accurate application and still nothing, not even in processing phase.

What is the rush with getting Finnish Citizenship? You do realise the Government needs to do thorough checks on you foreigners who want it? You are being given something from another country and that country has a right to take as long as it needs, to ensure you are a person they want to give citizenship to. Calm down and just wait.

The guys who are applying now a day, Finnish immigration told them estimated time as 1 year...

- Can I do it immediately or does it have to be at the 4 year limit?

- What happens when my current A-permit expires while my application is still being processed? Do I just wait for the decision?

When you fulfill the minimum residence period requirement.

Yes you can, but it will be a straight reject.

No. You apply for a new residence permit
