Hello.
Last year I was living in rented appartment (private market). The clothes wardrobe had one big drawer wich was verry hard to open and use it because appartment was 26 m2 and i was need every corner to manage. Does'nt matter, i was putt it in kellari. But somebody took it.
When i was move out from appartment, the owner took 400 eur away and said he will order new one and give me back rest of the money. After 3 months i was ask is it new drawer ready? He said Yes it is but there is no money for back.
I just don't belive that is cost so much. It was basic drawer. Nothing special. I asked for bill. They don't want to give me.
I just think that They took money.
WHAT TO DO???
Need advice!!

Re: Need advice!!
Make a complaint to the consumer disputes board. In the complain include your documented basis for a lower value of the drawer:inchy wrote:Hello.

they cannot do that.I asked for bill. They don't want to give me.
they can't withhold your money from you without showing you that bill.
something very similar happened to me at my old flat.WHAT TO DO???
first of all, start making it all written.
don't just talk on the phone, write emails.
then, you have to apply for "oikeusapu" (legal aid).
in helsinki: http://oikeus.fi/oikeusapu/helsinginoik ... index.html
they will go through everything with you and maybe have one of their lawyers write a letter to your ex-landlord or their lawyer.
whatever they recommend, i'd recommend you take it.
my guess is it will be better than nothing, but you won't get all your 400e back.

don't ask us.
take legal aid: http://oikeus.fi/oikeusapu/helsinginoik ... index.html
(are you in helsinki?)
like i said, happened to me, too.
landlord wanted to keep my complete damage deposit (*) for some repairs without showing any proof that these repairs were necessary, let alone some bills.
secretly hoping i would just shut up about it.
with legal aid, we agreed in the end that i get back 400e of the 700e i originally paid.
we did not take it to court, a letter from my legal aid lawyer to his was enough.
(*) it's called damage deposit, because landlords can use it to pay for damage that you left behind after you moved out.
but they must show you proof (i.e. a bill) of what they spent and of course it must be within reason and within reasonable limits.
so, make a wave.
don't shut up about it.
worst case for you, the furniture really cost 400e, but he still has to show you that bill.
best case, he cannot show you a bill, and has no right to keep that money forever, and will have to return it to you eventually.
most likely case: it will cost you something, but less than 400e.
