Unemployment allowance and future pension
Unemployment allowance and future pension
I heard that, if I apply for unemployment allowance from the trade union now and if I get it for a few months, it will reduce my income-related pension up on retirement. Is it the case?

It is reduced less than if you were unemployed and did not get income tied unemployment money. So for pension rights, it is best (of course) to work, but being unemployed after having paid to an unemployment fund (union membership is optional) is better than being unemployed without having joined a fund while still working.dreamstep wrote:I heard that, if I apply for unemployment allowance from the trade union now and if I get it for a few months, it will reduce my income-related pension up on retirement. The situation is like this:
I am unemployed.
But I work temporarily about 10 days a month, getting sth like 1500€.
I still pay union fee based on wage.
Is it better to apply for unemployment payment, or not apply for it?

I missed this for the original question that related to pensions. You are not unemployed, you are working part time. You will need to determining:dreamstep wrote: I am unemployed.

- whether you are eligible for unemployment benefits
- how the part time work effects the benefits
