Travelling suggestions from Turku to Helsinki Airport
Travelling suggestions from Turku to Helsinki Airport
I shall travel from Turku to Helsinki airport with three other family members including two kids aged 3 and 5.We have a lot of luggage like 9 pieces. There are two questions.(1)How much national express airport bus charges per bag for extra piece of luggage?http://www.expressbus.fi/en/customer-service/ this link tells that two suitcases per pessengers are free and there are charges for extra luggage. Does someone know how much exactly?(2)Is there a taxi service that we can hire from Turku to Helsinki airport? or any alternatives to the bus?Due to heavy luggage, we rule out the train because it will involve changeovers. Any good suggestions shall be appreciated!
Re: Travelling suggestions from Turku to Helsinki Airport
There are regular trains from Turku into Helsinki and then you just need to take the local I-train or P-train to the airport. The transfer is quite painless at Helsinki central railway station (an airport train leaves every 10 minutes so you don't need to rush) and once you arrive at the airport you have direct access into the terminal building.
So I wouldn't rule out the trains completely. In fact, with small kids, that would probably be my first choice. You can probably ask for assistance with your luggage. https://www.vr.fi/cs/vr/en/kysy_junamatkustamisesta_en
But if there is an airport shuttle, that might be an easier option even if it is slower. If you buy your tickets online you will see exactly how much the extra luggage costs... It might be easier to call National Express for the info. Their website sucks. I've tried multiple combinations of Turku airport to Vantaa airport and I get "No results match your search criteria". Are you sure there is an airport/airport bus link?
You could also try Onnibus: http://www.onnibus.com/en/index.htm but I couldn't find a direct service into Vantaa airport.
(Book online, it's cheaper)
Here's a taxi service (I've never used it, just googled). The amount of luggage you have increases the price:

Re: Travelling suggestions from Turku to Helsinki Airport
i used to travel a lot between helsinki and turku, and 50% of the time i buy my ticket straight from http://pohjolanliikenne.fi/
check it out, they're sometimes cheaper than onnibus.
i know they have buses going to the airport - sometimes straight, sometimes you need to change in Lommila (aka IKEA Espoo). It's a very convenient change, the buses wait for each other and the drivers surely will help with the luggage.
i don't know about loads of luggage; just the other day i looked up what a bycicle would cost, and it's 4e regardless of length f journey, so i'd guess it's a similar price for extra big luggage...
ps:
when will you be traveling? about twice a year (christmas and juhannus) public transport in finland is a disaster.
