Getting rid of junk in the Espoo area.
When I move to Espoo, I want to get rid of my old couch, and get a new one (Well at least to me) in Espoo.
How much does it cost to get stuff picked up and taken to the skip?
Or is there any kind of 2nd hand shops that come and pick stuff up for free?
The couch is an old 5 seater, corner thing.

Ah... Ämmässuo is the largest dumping site around Helsinki. It is next to the highway to Turku marked by a definite smell of rotten biowaste. It's only a twenty kilometer walk from Espoo centre. Bus 288 has a bus stop about seven kilometers from Ämmässuo in the direction of Bemböle.
With a pram only a small walk,
You can bring there old couches, fridges, old computers, wood, paint,

Why not just leave it in the current place? I am sure someone will want it. Remember, NOTHING goes to waste in Finland! I was driving down Freda the other day and there was a skip in the road and it had about 4 people all rooting around for stuff. I am sure your couch will find a new home somewhere. Put an ad in the announcements section - maybe someone in your area will want it?!

Ah, you see I was asking because it costs to dump stuff here in Iisalmi. Sadly the cost of dumping it, is worth more than the couch, well at least privately. (Sad but true!)
If we just leave the couch in the flat, the council will send a bill for the cost of dumping it.
Also, with the fact of have just having a newborn baby, moving house, deposit, travel and 2 lots of rent for the month. It will be a while before we can afford a newish couch.
Anyways,... Sure Sara, could you please forward the details to me?! Thanks!

Dumping of a coach at Ämmässuo costs 22,50 euro.timekiller wrote:Ah, you see I was asking because it costs to dump stuff here
Thanks!
However, this is what happened for me last year. Our coach was too big to load in the car. So, I broke it up in 100 pieces of wood and foam and then in a small trailer. At the dumping site I wanted to pay for it, but they told me:
"that's not a coach. It's old wood and sekäjäte. That's for free. You don't have to pay. "

They do have a pick up service but I'm not sure how much it costs. Call them or visit one of their outlets, they will give you all the info you need.

They will take good things for fee. But they will not take junk. It has to be in saleable condition or they will not take it. My friend was very annoyed that she could not get rid of her sofa. It was too heavy for her to lift herself and she did not want to pay haha.
If the recycle centre can't come in the next couple of days, put it all on tori.fi. Anything that can be used, someone will want it if it is free.

Oh and if you hire a van, you take it to Sortti.

They also have a pickup service for 60e. But this would be expensive for you if they take everything. That's why I would put it on tori personally.
