Work placements in Finland
Work placements in Finland
Hi I'm in my final year of a computer science degree and I'd love to do a work placement in Finland. How would I go about this? I don't speak the language by the way.
Re: Work placements in Finland
Do you live in Finland? From which country are you? What are your skills/talents? You gave no information at all.
You need to help us help you. So far, I only see red flags.

Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.
Re: Work placements in Finland
The red flags:
1. Internships are generally paid in Finland
2. You cannot get a valid residence permit on an unpaid position
3. If you are non-EU and not in a country with a working holiday agreement, then you don't even have the right to work here (the answer is no, you can't come)
4. If you are EU, you have the right to work, but this does not mean anyone will actually employ you
5. Offices which use only English AND would not see Finnish as an advantage are basically non-existent
6. We have a lot of foreign students in your position who already live here with permission to work
7. We have a lot of unemployed Finns who speak Finnish and fluent English
You might satisfy the requirements to do this in theory. But it is unlikely it will happen. Like zero.
Pick a country where you speak the language.
If you don't want to follow my advice that is fine. Here are the two websites you should use to find your job. http://www.mol.fi and http://www.monster.fi - Do let us know how you get on.
