Hello, my question is actually not about moving to Finland, as my child and I are already living here but on B type residence permit.
My child was born out of wedlock to an EU citizen father (who is now also a Finnish citizen) and non EU citizen mother (me). His father got Finnish citizenship ten months after my child was born so my child does not have Finnish citizenship. But I checked from the immigration website saying that my child is counted as a direct descendant of a EU citizen. So I was wondering if he would be qualified for a EU residence permit card or permanent residence in Finland. He is not living with his father. Is address of vital importance in the case of children? Anyone here had similar experience?
Thanks in advance.

Re: EU residence permit or Citizenship for the child
There is no category for direct descendant of a EU citizen (there's one for descendants of Finnish citizens).winsiebunny wrote:Hello, my question is actually not about moving to Finland, as my child and I are already living here but on B type residence permit.

Is the child currently an EU citizen through the father?
If they father has custody, they can make the child a Finnish citizen by declaration.

"Father who is a Finnish citizen can make the declaration only of he has the custody of the child"
