When you're planning on staying in Finland permanently, as an EU-citizen, you have to register yourself at the police. There you have to fill in a form en you'll get an European residence permit. After that you have to go to Maistraatti to register the address you're living at in Finland as your home address.
But to register you have to be:
a) married to someone who lives in Finland (or have some close relative, I guess)
b) have means of supporting yourself here (1000 eur a month in savings).
c) have a job in in Finland
d) have a study place in Finland
e) Move in with a partner, with whom you have had 2 years of registered cohabitation.

If one can just register without those, I've been lied to by people on the forum :?
That is very true, good to add that to the story.
I have a question though. The 1000 euros a months in savings, what does that mean. I mean I have a little more than 1000 euros on savings now, but what does the every month mean?
You need to prove that you can support yourself while you are here. You should have 1k income per month or a total of about 12k a year in a bank at your disposal.
If not, you just have to wait for 6 months living with your girlfriend. Make sure sure that you are both registered at the same address in Maistraatti. Still fishy for them though so they will prolong the application.
Fastest way is getting a job that lets you work 18 hrs a week for at least 4 months. That's what I did but still my application took abut 8 months.

It means you have to have way to support your living. Eat, roof over your head etc. Or did you think I have to pay your rent after the first month?

Visa is for visiting, Residence Permit for residing.

No I didn't think that. I live with my girlfriends family. I help around the house and in the village wherever I can. I applied for several jobs. In return I have this roof above my head and food in my belly. So don't worry about me.

This sounds like broke, without income and living of charity.
Not a good start to convince Kela you can support yourself.

There's no criteria in Kela coverage about being able to support oneself. For EU citizens the determination is done by the police when registering the right of residence. However, if reliance on the Finnish social security system for income, is later cause for deportation.
