its called work practise. it is true, walk in to a library and ask if there is a työharjoitelija working there, go to a kindergarten and ask them too, or simply walk to any supermarket and check it out yourself.

2ndly, it is a very new restaurant and therefore we kindly need a työharjoitelija to help out. These people are umemployed and they are unable to find a job. These work pratise places gives them some income and at the same time when the business picks up, we are then able to give a permanent position.

i was working as a työharjoitelija in Hong Kong in Riihimäki and yes, it was a normal job, but short hours 9am-3pm and kela pays the 'salary'. I was not hired after the attachment. That is life.

The work practice is not meant for your new restaurant to get cheap people. It's meant for unemployed people to get trained in a job, without replacing a full position.

Apart from that, the TE office is paying less and less of those as the system is misused a lot, especially in the gastronomy sector. Instead of the staff getting payed, and therefore paying taxes to the state, the state has to pay part of or the whole salary, so it costs us double. The profit goes to the restaurant owners' pockets.

To be really honest, I have tried and send resume to many places and never got any respond, therefore I create my own job. i Did not Sit at Home and take any unemployment benefits from Kela nor social.
running a new place takes time and alot of moeny (money borrowed from the bank of coz) and plenty of insurances, etc and it takes a while to build up customers.

If I can hire a full time frontline staff I will, but right now its really not possible which is why I needed to find some help. I have also said that there is a possibility to convert to full time when the contract ends.

There are certain criterias that both parties need to fulfill to be eligible as well. The so called salary by kela is around 600-800 i suppose inculding meals. I can provide the attachment person with free food and also they can pack food home for their family sometimes. While in a kindergarden, or library or supermarket, what can they bring home? Those Supermarket chains are the ones making huge money and why arent you guys attacking them?

I am only trying to find someone to help out at my place and what is wrong with that?

That I and the rest of the country pay for your 'employee' with our tax money. This kind of position was meant for unemployed people to get practical training, not for businesses to get free employees instead of hiring people.

And Self employed do not need to pay taxes? I am also paying taxes for your information, or maybe you want me to close down and apply for benefits, which means I simply do nothing, AND ENJOY your contributions!

actually you cannot choose the date for the "työharjoitelija" because the school will give a date say 1 month or 2 months only on a specific month/s. Around 6-7 hrs on weekdays. You also have to give performance review and they should also have a supervisor with them at all times especially if they don't have hygieniapassi.

While the trainee is working at the restaurant he'll be getting job training and experience as well . So I don't see any problem in taking a trainee here.

You can also contact your local TE toimisto to ask for a trainee.

I am also for internship but these days there's this culture at workplaces that interns are brought in for sporadic work that comes up every now and then where the intern has to wait for work to appear, or for boring, repetitive jobs that no one wants to do at office. In such environment, interns seldom get good experience or the respectful working life. Interns are treated as disposable tissues.

If interns are taught and given good guidences at work, no one should have problems with free labor being utilized by the companies... because at the end of day both parties win anyway.
