Been called a number of times today by this company Finnacta saying I had filled out an internet questionnaire giving them permission to call me - TOTAL NONSENSE!!
What's the most efficient way to get this stopped (without my having to pay a damn thing). ??
A New Telemarketing Monster - Finnacta
Re: A New Telemarketing Monster - Finnacta
"Kerro lisää"... "Voisitko selittää uudelleen?"... Put down phone, while they speak.
If you waste their time they'll prob won't want to call you.
But that's prob not the most efficient way

Re: A New Telemarketing Monster - Finnacta
This is a Finnish operation - there were 3 different calls from 3 different numbers
One started to ask where I bought underwear - the other two - different people.
It's not a question of getting them OFF the phone or hanging up - one shouldn't be called in the first place.
They try to say I filled out some Internet questionnaire - NONSENSE
Even that wouldn't give permission to call unless you gave your number and gave permission to call
So this stuff should be illegal from the get-go
Finnacta is a company run by some Iisalmi yokel - Timo Soikkeli - if you call his phone number, he's not there - operator is Elisa.
++
I get foreign calls and I just say that the number they called is reserved for taking orders - please give your order number - CLICK
But this stuff in Finland is supposed to be regulated!

Nope!!
The 5 calls (2 more afterwards) were all from different numbers.
You're going to need a super-genius phone.

From my very limited time in foreign telemarketing company abroad, I can say that telemarketers have a directory they use to call people, and everyone is fair game, except lawyers, of course.
Re: A New Telemarketing Monster - Finnacta
Here's what I do (well, I only needed to do this on two different occasions):
1- Guy greets you.
2- Greet him back very nicely and ask who you're talking to.
3- Once guy finishes saying his name, interrupt him.
4- Say "Please stop calling me. I'm recording this call. If you call again I'll report you, this number, and your company".
5- Hang up.
6- Never get a call from them again.
My non-scientific conclusion is that this method has a 100% success rate.

Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

I basically did this with 4 calls (from Finnacta from 4 different numbers) - but it didn't prevent their fifth call! Here's what I do (well, I only needed to do this on two different occasions):
