Public parking place for 24 hour or a day
Public parking place for 24 hour or a day
Hello,
I live in espoo near leppavara and work in helsinki, I was thinking to park the car inside helsinki and take train for 1 zone . Can you tell me which station after leppaavara would be good choice from the point of availability of space and safety of the car ? makkyla, pitajanmaki or something else you recommend ?
I dont have parking place in my work place.

Re: Public parking place for 24 hour or a day
Availability depends on what time you park your car in the morning.

I also have a car that I rarely take to the office, and often just use to get to the closest train station when the weather is bad. But the car is very practical for making weekend trips, for going shopping wherever I want to, and for a hundred other things. It's absolutely worth the money, and I'm still happy to go to work by public transport instead of suffering a long commute during rush hour every day. Don't judge other people like a little child just because you don't know more more about their life!roger_roger wrote:what's the use of buying a car when you cannot take it to your office.![]()

So you want to drive few stations by the line to save some 50 quids per month? on the other hand not adding the cost of maintaining the car which is more costly.![]()

By the way... the whole tarif system is going to change (date?) soon. There will be "onion rings" : zones like in Paris or London so that the fares increase progressively as you move away from the city centre.

And the metro should be running to Espoo next fall.Rosamunda wrote:By the way... the whole tarif system is going to change (date?) soon. There will be "onion rings" : zones like in Paris or London so that the fares increase progressively as you move away from the city centre.

There won't be that many rings. it won't be like munich where they have 16 concentric zones. There will be three as here https://www.hsl.fi/sites/default/files/ ... ykkeet.pdf. season tickets for the capital area can be AB, BC or ABC (no single zone season tickets). And there is still the problem that short journeys which cross a zone boundary are relatively expensive (no short trip ticket like in germany which has zones but avoids the problem of a 300m bus journey costing the same as a 30km one).Rosamunda wrote:There will be "onion rings" : zones like in Paris or London so that the fares increase progressively as you move away from the city centre.

Short trips (within the ABC area (~Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa)) that cross one zone boundary in the new system will be no more expensive than trips within one zone (the more expensive of the two neighbors).

I guess you are not familiar with the mileage on the average 2nd hand car hereroger_roger wrote: really not interested to know any-other's life, I am busy living mine and I still think its wastage of money to buy a car and let it rot in the parking place. (I know 99% of car lives are spend in parking lot, you got 1% to enjoy driving and you let it slip through your hand? doesn't happen with me)

Depends where you work in Helsinki there is always free parking in some areas. I work near Kamppi and I park on the streets near Hietaniemi ranta (10 min walk from there)...
