Anyone living in Tikkurila/Vantaa

Hi,

We're planning to move to Tikkurila to live after years living in Helsinki but we don't know much about it except that it has good transport connection by trains to Helsinki/Espoo. How is the area in general in comparison to other areas in Helsinki and Espoo such as Itäkeskus, Kontula or Leppävaara, Leppavara etc? What other areas would you recommend to live in Vantaa for a family with kids? Thanks!

I haven't ever lived in it but it seems okay. Typical city...busy. I like the boonies of course

Cheaper house wise than Helsinki if you're getting an apartment (a small one).

Lots of nice places in Vantaa for families : Korso, Kivisto, stuff like that.

There are also lots of horrible crap areas out past Tikkurila. Years ago there use to be areas with high rises full of ethnic foreigners, which of course aren't bad people. But the areas aren't really the nicest. So choose wisely.

Tikkurila is just like a mini city. I wouldn't want to raise my kids there. I'd go out to the burbs. Public transport is excellent in most places around that area. Compared to other countries, it's bloody great.

Hello, living in Tikkurila since Sept'15. Family with 2 small kids. Commuting is very good from here, ring III and also train station bring you to most of the places easily.
There are very nice areas around, Siponkorpi Natural Park, paloheina, jumbo for shopping.

It is truth that it looks like a small city center..but in our opinion is not that nice...nothing special here. Every time we have been driving to find nice places to go with the children.
In fact, we are thinking on moving to another place..
