hi all,
just wondering what is the process of purchasing a car in Finland (assuming one has a driving license already).
what is the minimum amount of down-payment required for say purchasing a new car vs a second hand used car?
what are the differences between the bank loan interest rates for new car vs second hand cars?
car purchasing process
Re: car purchasing process
I found the process of buying a car (Qashqai) quite bizarre. The dealers pre-order some models with specification/colour/engine size they think will be of interest and if you buy one of those you have to wait about 4 months. If you don't want to do that and want to choose your own spec then it's more like 6-7 months wait! I had never heard of this pre-ordering and guessing game before.
At the Kia dealer I booked a test drive of a Sportage for a few days later. When I arrived they said the demo car had been sold!!
This unfriendly attitude to customers (you'll buy it from us because what else are you going to do) made me investigate buying a used BMW from Germany. So the same money as a new Qashqai I have a six cylinder used BMW 5 series diesel that parks itself, has heads up display, massage/memory seats and almost everything else from the options list. The best thing about it is that no Finnish car dealers got any of my money.
