Did you go to the police to register your right of residence or apply for a residence permit? You will not receive a permit for the former. For the ID card you need to apply for separately.

Neither the EU registration or a residence permit immediately gives you the right to be permanently in Finland. For the former, you get the right after fiver years and for the latter after four years.

EU registration: never (you will get a certificate though, there's an important legal distinction between a certificate and permit)
Residence permit: max nine months

Which of these is for you, depends on your citizenship and where from you moved to Finland.

The Finnish personal identity on its own doesn't signal much. It can be given even to people who don't reside in Finland and never plan to either.

If you need a residence permit, you are not allowed to work before the application is approved except in the positions listed here:

You seem to have the basics covered. It's better to ask more targeted questions because otherwise the answer would be more like a foreigners guide to Finland.

Thank you so much! So I went to kela with my spouse, they were super friendly with us though, so in max 1 month they will give me the decision..I opened a bank account in s pankki quickly though, and now I paid in the police for the permit something like 192e.... Now I'm just waiting for that permit but in the police they said that when everything is perfect , the process can sometimes be quicker ( 1month) up to max 9 months...

So, how can you work without a proper residence permit? If you get caught working without it, you can forget getting the permit, altogether.

I hope for you, you get it quickly, but don't be disappointed if it takes a while. There is the big influx of refugees right now. Could take longer.

Good luck!

Since you saod the officer told you 9 months, then you're applying for a residence permit. It is *not* permanent; you'll have to renew in either 1 year or 4 years.
Also, make sure your job is on the allowed liat that betelgeuse provided, otherwise you'd be working illegally until you get the permit approved.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.
