RP for an Employed Person vs RP for Special Expert

I've recently received my residence permit for "a person employed as a special expert" (aka "specialist"), but I don't quite understand the benefits of having this RP vs having an RP for an employed person. Migir's website explains the extra requirements of the specialist RP (e.g. higher education degree and/or higher salary), but it doesn't talk about the benefits. So, how are these two RPs different?

The specialist RP is faster to get; days instead of months. But the "benefits" are the same.

It's faster to get because there's no labor market evaluation. This means it's also easier for you to renew your permit.

Thanks for your answers! So, the specialist RP is faster to get because they skip the labor market evaluation.

For people who are interested, I should add that in my case, it took a couple of months for the permit to be approved, because there is a long queue even for specialist applications (they do expedite the process if the employer asks for it). Since I was calling the immigration office every week to ask for updates, based on their answers, I can say that almost all of that two months was spent in the queue. The actual approval took about two days, and the card was issued right then. It also took about a month for the RP card to get shipped to the embassy.

There's quite a bit of anecdotal evidence that this plays a role in delaying your application.

I was refering to this scheme. Seems they call it "key employee"-

Foreign key employees (Provisional Act)

Foreign ‘key employees’ arriving in Finland for more than six months can pay a flat-rate 35-percent tax on their earned income instead of progressive income tax. The 35-percent rate is applied to:

Persons working as teachers or researchers in an institution of higher education in Finland; or
Persons whose monthly cash salary is at least €5,800 throughout their visit in Finland and whose duties in the service of a Finnish employer require special skills.

Application to the local tax office for the tax card entitling to this benefit must be made at the latest within 90 days from the beginning of the work in question. The benefit is granted for a maximum of 48 months. It is not granted to a person who has been a resident in Finland at any time during the five years preceding the beginning of the key person’s work assignment. The person concerned must file an income tax return in Finland.

Any other earned income is taxed according to a progressive rate. The income subject to tax at source affects the tax rate applied to other income earned during the same time.

This is separate from the immigration rules regarding Special Expert residence permit. You can have a Special Expert RP and not fall under that provision.
But I guess it's good to know about it.

Thanks for sharing this, I have applied specialist RP and 2 weeks over, still waiting queue for process. I have also applied with my family (wife and Daughter), my question is will they process the applications together or will they take additional time to approve for my family. Please let me know your experience.

If you're moving to start a job, and your family has applied with you, in the vast majority of time the applications as processed together unless there are some issues like marriage authenticity or income requirements.

Don't rely on other people's experiences in these matters. They're not you, and their applications and cases might be different than you. Check the rules directly from Migri site: http://www.migri.fi/services/faq/reside ... employment

Your family member can submit his or her application at the same time as you submit your application. Applications that are submitted at the same time are usually processed and decided at the same time. If you submit your application electronically, we may not be able to decide the paper application of your family member at the same time.

I have a difficulty in considering this and have problem in it too.

I meet the requirement as a specialist, where my salary is more than 3000€ as mentioned in migri.fi. But in enterfinland.fi they asked me to upload my Master degree certificate. At present I am doing my Thesis and will finish my studies by 2nd week of september and I will receive my degree certificate only by end of december 2016. So I made application as employed person and attached all the required documents and my education qualifications along with my master degree transcript and admission letter. Do they consider me as a specialist or employed person?

You should have started a new thread or found a better matching thread if one exists since your questions don't really related directly to the original topic.

Are you sure it explicitly asked for Master's? It's possible to be a specialist with a bachelor's.

I doubt they would move you to another category unless you explicitly had something towards that in the application.

I can confirm that having a university degree (whether bachelor's or higher) is not a requirement for the specialist RP. They ask for it, but they still consider your case if you don't present it.
