Renewing residence permit when not having personal ID

This is my current situation, my wife had her residence permit last year but she couldn't come to Finland immediately after receiving her permit due to some personal issues. Now that everything has been resolved, she has just come to Finland to live with me (we have been together for nearly 10 years, so this is not a fake marriage or anything fishy), her permit will expire this August. We have an appointment with the police this week to submit the application.

The problem is that she doesn't have a personal ID yet (I remember checking the box in the application form to apply for a personal ID together with the residence permit, but somehow migri didn't give us one), we came to Maistraatti (Helsinki) this morning to fill the form and they said that it would take around 1-2 weeks to get one (Mine took like 5 minutes ), we try to find another appointment later this month but unfortunately can't find one due to the busy schedule in Helsinki area.

I sent an email to the police asking for what I should do about this (still waiting for their response). I just want to know if there is anyone here who happened to be in the same position as I am now and what should I do?

It's a good idea to use correct term. It's personal ID number (Henkilötunnus) not just personal ID, because it might be confused with ID card.

In the residence permit form, you can either input hetu (personal ID number) or simply date of birth in the format ddmmyy. Don't worry about it too much. If your wife in the system, which she is, then it's all good.

I have just received the answer from the police, just as you said, my wife can apply without a personal ID number
