Old topic!Be Aware of Tori.fi scams

Post by winsiebunny » Mon Jun 27, 2016 11:05 pm

I have been selling and buying stuffs on tori.fi a lot. I have posted a few times the things I sell on tori to the buyers. And also have been buying via post. Always got my stuffs or money. It never came to my mind that there could be a fraud or something there until this happened to me last week. I found one really nice winter jacket on tori.fi. The seller said she is selling it because of moving. I contacted her and settled the price, transferred the money to her account and she wrote to me that she got the money and she would take the jacket to the post. However, the next day I wrote to her and asked if the jacket has been sent and what the tracking code was. She did not reply me. After 4 days, I wrote another email to her and there was no reply either. I searched on tori and found out the jacket was still there. I realized this has been a total scam. The jacket is non existent. I did a research on similar cases. Seems it is almost unlikely that I am gonna get my money back. I just write here to share my experience. Be aware of the scams on tori.

Thanks for the warning but since you transferred the money on a bank account, you know exactly who it is right? Or did you transfer it abroad?

Yes I know who that is. And she has to have a real name to open an account in Finland. I filed a report to police but this usually takes a long process. And usually fraudsters have the account emptied immediately after getting the money.
