Hi all,
I have applied to exchange my foreign driver's licence for a Finnish one. My original licence is issued by a contracting state (Countries that have signed the Geneva or Vienna Road Traffic Convention). I didn't realize it can take such a long time! It's been 5 weeks already, and Ajovarma says the application is not yet processed. The problem it that they have my old licence, and they issued me a temporary licence, but I can't drive anywhere outside of Finland now, can't travel with a car.
They don't say how long it actually takes. Does anybody here has any experience with it? I've seen many topics about the exchange, but couldn't find any messages about processing times.

My wife got it changed in about 6 weeks, but now is the holiday season. You shall be able to get your own license back until the new one is issued. They only take my wife license when the new one was ready.

I called them and they said no, I can't have my old one back until the new one is ready. Only when I have the new licence, I will be able to exchange it back to the old one...
