Look at where "Lahnus" is where is a Shell station on Vihdintie. Nuuksio park is a bit further up the road. There is a bicycle path all the way to there, so you can cycle. Anyways, when you look at the map, there starts a huge swathe of forest/swamp there to the north. Find Mylly-Majalampi. Or then go to Sipoo, I don't remember which damn road my dad always pulled up at, but somewhere close to the national park. Heck, even Keskuspuisto...

Was in Nuuksio last week, circular walk from Haukkalampi. There are bilberries everywhere. Could easily have picked a kilo without leaving the path. Bring a big bucket!

Or just stuff your face like we did.

Actually the bilberries are past their best - the strawberries are still growing but there were far fewer plants.

Kiitos :)

I thought maybe for once only positive response but you also had to mention that they are past their best time. I didn't had to know that, what do i know what is the best time for blueberries :D :D

Also I've heard that there is a ''tool'' to pick them faster? Any help on that?

Hi!
The tool is called "poimuri" and makes picking berries faster than picking by hand. However, you'll get some leaves and other trash with your berries, and therefore you need to clean the berries by sorting out them from the trash afterwards.
- - There'a a tool for that, too. It's called "marjanpuhdistin" and is the tray on the right. The berries stay on the tray, while the leaves fall out through the bottom grid, when you shake the tray - or you pick the larger trash out by hand.

The bilberry season is just beginning. There are still plenty around and they usually continu well past the end of July ( last year I was picking them right through August but it was a late season due to awful summer weather). Of course it depends on the location and the weather. If one spot is not yielding much just move somewhere else.
The last week in July is 'ladies' week' when all the name days are girls' names. Traditionally this is bilberry pie week.
Can't remember where I read that.

You can buy those tools in almost any supermarket or hardware store.

Hi!
You can feel very lucky, when you find a spot like this with a lot of berries.
(- - This was in Sipoo earlier today)

However, you'll obviously need to do some cleaning removing leaves, raw berries etc, if you have been using "poimuri".
