US prepaid card
Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to buy a US prepaid card for mobile in Finland? I just wondering if I can get it before I travel to the States. Thanks!
Re: US prepaid card
i buy mine from Target once in the USA. The AT&T cards are better since they have 3G frequencies. the T Mobile based cards only work at GSM speed since the T Mobile 3G network uses a special frequency that only T Mobile phones have.

I use a T-Mobile SIM Card just fine with 3G and a hotspot bought in Finland. They take a while to expire so I might be able to use the same one for multiple trips. It also works in Canada.riku2 wrote:i buy mine from Target once in the USA. There are quite a few people selling them on US eBay that will ship to Finland. They are around $10 including postage. As recommended by others, T-Mobile is a GSM network on a band that should work for most phones bought in Europe.

Its the GSM bands are different in the US and EU, you need to have a phone doing the local bands too

T-mobile runs on 1900 MHz and AT&T runs on 850 MHz. It's a good idea to double check what frequencies your phone supports before you go, but most modern smart phones seem to have support for the 4 main GSM frequencies. Even low end smart phones in the 100€ range I checked had support for the 4 main bands. 4G is a different story.
