Apart from nettiautio, if there any other place where I can search for right-hand drive cars for the UK? For example, is there any place where dealers list their right-hand drive cars?
I'm moving back to the UK next July and I'm curious to see if I can pick up a good deal on a car. Maybe I'm wrong but my thinking is that there is no-demand for UK cars in Finland.
Any thoughts?
Right-hand cars from the UK - Where to buy?
Re: Right-hand cars from the UK - Where to buy?
the post office use right hand drive cars for their countryside deliveries and i've seen some of their ex-vehicles being driven around.
but used cars in finland are massively expensive compared to used cars in the uk. You're better to go there, buy a used car, drive it back to finland for a while and then drive it to the uk although you will pay import tax when you bring it to finland though and it's not refunded if you take the car out of the country. So perhaps it's cheapest to buy a used left hand drive car now (either in finland or from somewhere like Germany) and sell it next july before going to the UK.

Even if you find one here it will be twice as expensive than in UK. Do not even loose your time...mpjacko wrote:Apart from nettiautio, if there any other place where I can search for right-hand drive cars for the UK? For example, is there any place where dealers list their right-hand drive cars?

What do you want from me?????
Re: Right-hand cars from the UK - Where to buy?
I'm not so sure about that. A couple of people I know who have tried to sell RHD cars in Finland have struggled to find buyers and had to drop the price a great deal just to get rid of them. The only Finn I ever met who bought a RHD vehicle (an ex postal delivery van) did so only because it was so cheap. So my impression has been that RHD vehicles have little financial value in Finland so it should be possible to get a good deal.foca wrote:Even if you find one here it will be twice as expensive than in UK. One would have to satisfy himself with "just" a car, no choice would be available obviously....DMC wrote:I'm not so sure about that. My experience is somewhat different to your impression.DMC wrote:I'm not so sure about that. I brought a 2 year old RHD Ford Escort with me in 1999. I needed to get rid of it in 2013 when I got a contract abroad and knew we didn't need two cars in Finland.
I asked the head mechanic at Ford (who had serviced it for the last 10 years) if he knew anyone who'd be willing to take it off my hands.
I thought I'd have to scrap it ... surely nobody here would want a 16 year old RHD Escort ... even if it did have a FSH.
He said stick it on Nettiauto, someone will take it.
As I recall it sold within 18 hours of advertising it.
I've seen it around a couple of times in the last few weeks, still on the road, but driven by someone far younger than the guy I sold it to, so it's prlly changed hands again in the last 3 years.
It was in really good nick when I sold it, since then it's lost its front spoiler and now has tinted windows and a huge exhaust
