Finnish or Swedish DVD websites which ship to the USA?

Post by pikkuleipä » Tue Aug 23, 2016 11:22 pm

Hello, everyone! Does anybody know of any Finnish or Swedish DVD websites that will ship to the United States?

I want to purchase Disney movies in Finnish, but it seems impossible to find a Finnish website that will ship anywhere outside Europe. Years ago I purchased a film from a Swedish website (which had both Swedish and Finnish languge tracks :D) but I believe that website actually shut down... :(

Anybody know of any others? I need my Finnish Disney fix!

Hi!
Suomikauppa delivers to all over the world. However, be reminded that the Disney DVDs in Finnish have been coded to DVD Region 2 (Europe), so you need to ensure that you have a player that will be able to play films coded for that region.
- Most off-the-shelf US DVD players won't make it.

In that case you might consider ripping your self bought DVD's to DivX, AVI or Mp4 or whatever is your preference, and then play them from a thumb drive inserted in your TV or DVD player. (saves the original from scratching and breaking too, especially with the little fingers and drooling hands of the young interested in disney  ).

Most DVD players / recorders in a PC can be region changed 4 or 5 times, some DVD players can be "unlocked" to play any region, just google on it.. (or duckduckgo on it... )
If god would give us the source code, we could change the world

You could also consider asking the individual sellers at huuto.net.

I am trying to get "Talvisota" Blu-ray released by VLMedia. Usually I order from amazon.de but they have an inferior version.

I found it on a few .fi websites but they seen to only ship within Finland and require ID to order. The exception was on VLMedia's website but they want €21 to ship to Canada.

Kiitos kaikille for all of your help. :D

Suomikauppa looks handy, although their Disney collection is currently scarce. Perhaps more will be added in the future. And if not, maybe the potential Finnish Amazon will be an option! :lightbulb:

Luckily from prior experience I already knew about the DVD region thing, but thanks for the warning! I can imagine the frustration one would experience after waiting for their DVD to arrive only to find that it won't play on their region 1 player...

As for Huuto, I would've given it a try but Paypal isn't an option there and quite frankly it looked complicated to me. Maybe when my Finnish isn't so bad I could give it a shot.

@degen, unfortunately high shipping is usually the price you have to pay (literally  ) to get something from abroad. :ohno:
