This indeed sounds like you're no longer special and the normal rules of finding housing would apply.

To best of my knowledge you'd be operating under the normal rules. I'm not motivate to think any possible ways to game the system. Student's usually primarily look for student housing, other people (not wanting or being unable to pay the free market price) apply for the regular municipal housing.
