It's all a pickle!

Post by reachthesky » Sat Sep 03, 2016 4:33 pm

Hi, the last few months life has just gone down the !"#¤%. Separated with my amazing wife/partner of 8 years had to move back to England. The last month we've been speaking and wanna give it another try but she don't want me to move in with her until she sees the change in me and despite not being able to work in Finland i still wanna give it one last try just to see how things work out. I've already got my name down on a waiting list for going to school(Finnish Language Course). I was already 6 months in a course when i had to move back to England so hopefully it won't be too hard to get into. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience here. Partner/Wife leaving you but still deciding to live in Finland what steps did you take? And how did you manage to get yourself a place? I'm sure if i speak to the social they would help but i'm not sure how long that could possible take. Maybe it would just be easier to rent with somebody else. Thankfully kela are pretty kind and will probably do a lot to help.

Sad thing is just before i left i was doing my forklift driving licence, still breaks my heart that :beamer:

Helpful comments, people trying to be smart whatever you may put is welcome here.

p.s i was living in Finland for 3 years.

As a single able bodied person (not a invalid or something else), you are most probably at the bottom of the housing priority. So it could take a long time. Best bet is try to rent a room somewhere.

You have no job I presume? It will be difficult to rent a place without a job.

Kela is nice, but don't expect them to pave the road in gold for you.

Good luck with your marriage.

As Floss said, you are at the low priority for city housing. Check for averts for rooms or similar.
However, I don't understand why tanking your carrier and your whole life for one person? There is no guarantee that you both won't end up in the same situation again. Also, You have more opportunities in UK than Finland by the way.

Was already employed so it wasn't any problem for me.
And how did you manage to get yourself a place?
Okoitie.fi to get the place when I came back to single market. The former apartment was rented so we both moved out. Stayed in touch for 10 days if I remember it right, and then I broke off all contacts including changing phone number. Total radio silence. No idea how her life went, and frankly I don't care.

There is a good news for you by the way. There is plenty of fish out there. Just go out. Lift some weights. Organize your life and everything will get better. I had about two months long relation with a pretty Czech within a few weeks when I came back in the single market.
