Post by LuckyEst » Tue Nov 15, 2016 7:59 pm

good evening.

guys i have a question, what do you think about buying stuff ( like food or dishes or anything ) and transffering it to helsinki ?
i understand that the price question is about 2-3 times less than is helsinki... maybe you have some ideas about that ?

would be nice to hear from your thoughts...

Import what kind of food?
From where? Outside of the EU?
What do you know about import regulations?
Where do you want to sell the food in Finland?
Do you know how to set up and run a business in Finland?
Do you know about regulations for handling, storing and selling food in Finland?

The way you ask the question lets me think that you have no idea what you're doing.

Good day.

80% of our costumers for now sushi restaraunts. 20% european kitchens.
From Estonia, Tallinn.
I know that we need a car with refrigerator, we have this car...and some papers working about 3 years. every week 1-2 times are delivering already.
there is no need to store food in Finland... we are loading car day before and on the first ship are delivering...
there is a problem that they are afraid of foreigns... so im here and asking about help... maybe for example you have some friends or ppl who are interested in work with us...
it's like 2 time cheaper to buy from estonia...

+

another idea: maybe some friends traveling in Estonia to buy alko...so we too can deliver, why not... its like 1 person 110l of beer... we traveling together... so legal we can deliver 220l with check and make some money just for delivery....
but again need to find costumers...

sorry my english, i better speak spanish and estonian or russian ))

for beer there is 110l/person is allowed ... i can take bills and take just money for delivery for example...
so its like somebody went by himself to Estonia and bought...

Drugs... are you from police ? ))))

Ok, what you need is a business consultant specialised in import businesses (EU). While bringing food to Finland from within the EU is much easier than from the outside there are still many matters that need to be adressed. And I would only trust a professional with that.

Evira, the Finnish Food Safety Authority, is responsible for food imports, also from within the EU, and there is a long list of regulations you have to take into consideration. Especially if the food is as a whole or partly of animal origin there are strict regulations.

For alcohol, you are mixing up the regulations for private consumers and businesses. The 110 liter regulation is for private people only, and of course it is not allowed to sell this alcohol to other private people or businesses!!!

For importing alcohol as a business you will need a license from Valvira, the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health. If you want to sell the alcohol to other businesses you will need a wholesale license, and you have to report to Valvira what you are importing. Applications need to be submitted in Finnish or Swedish, and I would recommend hiring an expert to do this. Processing time is around 3 months, and you might not get the license at all. Valvira can inspect your premises and vehicles at any time.

For both food as well as alcohol you will probably not be allowed to sell them out of your van without a proper storage facility.

You will be responsible for the imports and especially the food safety, which means that you as a wholeseller take a lot of risk and also need costy insurance for your business operation.

If you don't do this by the book and ignore Evira and Valvira regulations you might face drastic penalty fines, and even prison if somebody gets hurt.

Raw fish is one of the most regulated (and controlled) areas of food retailing. If you want professional advice on importing raw fish into Finland, check the Evira website or send them an email.
