Well I do not think all of these are random messages to give supplementary information especially after the processing has started.
In my case it was not a random message because there was an additional query in supplementary information request besides salary and travel that was particular to my personal situation.

------ Is it known that supplementary information has been asked twice (or applicants contacted twice for additional clarification) before giving any kind of decision? (either positive or negative.)
------ Have there been cases where negative decisions have been given after asking for supplementary information? I mean if supplementary information was asked, and the supplementary information only added strength to the application then the decision is almost likely to yeild in a positive decision. Right????

Lucky guy ! congrats. A last question though when had you become actually eligible for citizenship? I am trying to figure out if an already valid eligibility while applying leads to faster results.

Thanks a lot. No worries, ask if you need anything. I'm living in Finland since 08.2010. First two and a half years B and the rest A so basically its a long time that I'm eligible.

Thanks mate! yeah it was pretty fast. There is one thing that I did 2 weeks ago, thought of attaching my pay slip regarding the salary in May. Therefore, they didn't ask anything from me. Didn't know if it was a good idea but it seems that it has worked.

It is a bit strange situation. I have a permanent resident but it is now 12 days that my application is stuck at the second stage. I applied at migri Helsinki and I have a full-time job but it seems some applications are processed selectively. And I should confirm that it heavily depends on the person who processes it!

Congratulations to everyone again!

I have a question and expect a genuine answer from those who applied & received a decision.

I understand that the majority of the applicants are from outside EU / EEA area, thus having a Finnish citizenship let us travel freely. But having seen a lot of people applying before even they met the basic requirement of residency period, I wonder why is such an urgency! Or is it just that you want to move out of Finland and find a job somewhere else as soon as you receive a positive decision? If not, why not wait until you meet the requirement?

I don't know about all the reasons different people might have, but for me and some of my friends, the reason for the rush is that we have been unable to go to some conferences or research visits abroad because we either didn't get the visa on time or don't get it at all! In addition to that, every time we apply for a visa we have to spend a lot of money on it, I personally have spent more than 1000 euros on visa for different countries in the past five years alone! So, for jobs that require lots of traveling, having the Finnish citizenship can save you a lot of time, money and guarantee less missed opportunities because of our nationality!

Hi bigli

I understand your situation and that's purely the reason why I applied too.. by the way, do you know that you can claim the visa fee from your employer (at least most universities) if you are applying for work purpose (eg. conference)?

Thanks for the tip :) The total amount would be much higher if I add the visa fees that my work places has covered and all the fees for renewing residence permits!

Also about the reason to apply for citizenship if you qualify and you plan to stay here you shall always do it, even you are from EU or non-EU as you never know when the rules will change and maybe is harder to get it, e.g. Denmark is changing the rules on getting the citizenship, also you never know how long EU will last... or your EU country exits the EU like UK...
