Sick Allowance

Hello nice people! I'm new here and I really need your help and advice please.
Few weeks ago (exactly on the 06.06.2018) I had a surgery concerning appendicite.
I'm working in a cleaning company for only a couple of hours/day since 2015 and as I could read from Kela.fi, I have the right to fill the "sick allowance" application.
Yesterday, I even called Kela to know exactly what I need to do, due that it's the first time for me that I'm absent from work for so long.
The employee advice me to fill the "sick allowance application" and (at the same time) to ask my employer to send me the Y17 form, so they can know better which days are payed and which are unpaid.
Today, I sent an e-mail to my employer, asking him this Y17 form but he told me that the salary office said they will send it to Kela only after they have paid the sick leave money first.
Anyone can explain me better how is it going, please??
I'm literally lost .

I'm not an expert on this but this Y17 is to tell Kela how much the employer paid you the sick leave. After Kela will take over. Depends on the contract, union etc you get some days or months paid by your employer. After that Kela will pay.

Thanks for answering. Yes, I knew that already but which is not very clear is: "should I do or send some documents to Kela or my Employer will provide to this?

Your employer will pay some time for sick leave. When you need to ask the money from Kela employer shall fill that form.

bumping the thread since i'm in a similar situation

i've been on a sick leave for a month and my employer said i should ask kela about the sick pay. the thing is i don't have kela card as i've never applied for it. do i need the card in this case?

i'll go to kela office to clear things up, but i thought i could ask here as well

You do. The card is proof that you are eligible to the benefits from them.
