Extended resident permit for employed person
Extended resident permit for employed person
Hi everyone, can anyone share experience about extending the first resident permit for an employed person?
I was told that if you still have the job, salary and paid taxes, you will get the extension.
So is the stay in Finland of 183 days mandatory for the extension? How likely will you get the extended permit?

Re: Extended resident permit for employed person
According to my friends who have done so has successfully gotten the extension on the basis of work. In my case, however, I extended from student permit to work permit. So IMHO, there should be no reason why you will not be granted an extension having said that you are still working.
However, I do not know about
Also let's follow up here, Residence permit on the basis of work 2018-2019 Might get more information if you have already applied.

At least for me, I have been staying and working since I applied for the work permit on July 2018.So is the stay in Finland of 183 days mandatory for the extension? How likely will you get the extended permit?

Re: Extended resident permit for employed person
Just heard that the extension of RP is getting stricter recently that they usually only issue one year instead of four for the second permit. One may need to renew every year. Anyone have any experience/knowledge on this?

Migri being stricter or employers giving only short contracts?

Re: Extended resident permit for employed person
A residence permit can only be extended twice, meaning that the third permit is permanent.

Re: Extended resident permit for employed person
This is not necessarily so. 4 years on A permit is required for permanent permit. There can be more than 2 extensions in that period. Not everyone gets 4 years on the second permit.
Re: Extended resident permit for employed person
That means it is possible to have to renew the permit every year?
What requirements / factors would be affecting the extension period then?
Can anyone who has experience of extension share more?
Thanks.

Work contract's length. Migri won't issue 4 year permit if you have only 1 year contract.

Then it is a case by case basis. Migri will look in depth at the company finances before making a decision on how long to grant the residence permit. Be prepared for a long list of documents to send them and a longer wait.
Re: Extended resident permit for employed person
Sounds quite insecure.
But they started to issue permit for start-up entrepreneurs since April 2018, which means Finland welcomes people to go do business. They should provide a stable condition for businesses, otherwise who would come invest and worry about extending the permit all the time?!
Has anyone got negative decision for permit extension, and why?
