Protecting your car in lapland

Post by OnionJuice » Fri Jul 19, 2019 11:05 pm

Hey guys got a question about the legalities of installing a bull bar on your car when driving in Finland. (Now before I start I just want to say I wouldn't intentionally hit an animal on the road but accidents happen up here) Is it allowed? Are there places that do it? If I hit a reindeer or moose I would like as little damage caused to my car as possible.

Have you seen moose? I suppose you won't be installing any bars to your car that would help with moose. They have long legs and will hit windshield and roof of the car. https://www.heili.fi/uutiset/item/4424- ... ulilasissa

If you hit a moose be thankful to remain alive, and forget about car damage. Unless the car is more important than your life to you.

I have seen many reindeer but no moose! It is extremely rare that you would see a moose on the road

South Western police of Finland has recorded 140 moose accidents in a week. Although that number isn't just moose and includes also deer, the number is quite alarming. Especially as the moose accident season begins in September when the hunting and heat is on...
