Hi everyone
I came to Helsinki in April with a Schengen visa, now living in Espoo with my husband, he is working in Helsinki for seven years. I applied for my first RP in July and it's waiting for progress now, the staff of migri says I can stay in Finland until the result come even my Schengen visa is expired. Now I am planning to go back to my country with my husband in October, but the staff told me the result of RP usually takes more than 5months and my Schengen visa is expired. What can I do now? It really worries me, and I really really want to come home
ps: I want to go back to Finland after my RP result comes, is the RP card usually send by post or should I go to migri myself? I hope it would be sent to my house in Espoo directly so my husband can mail to me
How can I back to my hometown while waitting for my first resident permit

It's sent by post but on your name. You can give a letter to your houbant to pick it.
Also will be better if you leave Schengen via Finnish border as other countries may not see you applied for RP and will see just your overstayed visa.

Thanks for your reply! Since my Schengen visa is expired, I can not travel to other Schengen countries, so Helsinki would be the only departure

The thing I am worried about is that does Helsinki border will admit that my residence during this period is legal because of my RP application? The staff of migri told me the document can prove the legality of my residence but can not be used for travel. Maybe I should write an email to migri or Helsinki Costums.

It will be sent to your address in Finland, your husband can then just mail it to you. I did that with my flatmate who's coming back to Finland after his first RP expires.
