Does anybody know how the anti-squatting laws work in Finland? I own a flat in varsinais suomi that is empty for several months of the year and I was wondering if in Finland there are similar absurd laws like in Spain, where there are about 90.000 illegally occupied properties(mostly by groups of organized gipsies) and where if someone occupies illegally your flat it takes months or years before you kick them out, and only after 1000s of euros spent for a solicitor and even as home owner you are not allowed to get into your flat once has been occupied (illegally) otherwise you can be charged with breaking and entry (absurd). How does it work in Finland? Is squatting widespread or not? Does the police act promptly or there are laws in this field that reward bad behaviour like in Spain or common sense prevail?

Squatting
Re: Squatting
Basically you don't have to worry about it.
What I know squatting in Finland is that it's usually more civil activism or political action in than anything else and happens only to buildings that are left unused for years. I haven't heard of squatting a flat for living in Finland never.
It's illegal and the maximum penalty from it is three months of jail time. I would assume calling police would solve this thing for you pretty fast.
