Spouse residence permit apply in 2019

Just wanna share my info here and hope that it would be helpful. My RP is researcher type (A permit), arrived in Finland on July, my spouse started her application in August and after 2 weeks we got the decision. I sent an email to Migri stating that we had been counting days by days to reunite and also mentioned that she needs the RP A to apply for her master course which will close its application soon. Migri replied me after 10 mins I sent the email and put our application into progress, surprisingly.

They probably gave her expedited processing via student rules.

She has not yet applied for the master course, just our plan. I think it is all about luck.

We applied on 6th September and proved our identity. The officer just read our application, took the biometric finger prints, saw the original documents and then just gave us the paper saying that my wife can stay in Finland while the application is in process. He said we will get a decision in maximum 2 months. The status on enter finland is now waiting for processing. Is that normal and should i expect any suppliment requests or questions from migri? Also the waiting time estimate on the migri website say that it will take 5 to 8 months. I am a bit confused now how long will it take. Should i trust the officer? But anyways, i hope the officer was right and we do get a decision in 2 months. I have got my fingers crossed. Got luck for all others who are waiting.

2 months is not impossible but highly unlikely. Every time a migri officer has given me an estimate at an appointment, it has never been correct.

From all the processing times online it says 7 to 9 months. I wish I was there in Finland able to get a resident permit. It takes longer than that from all the stuff I researched online.

I finally have some update to share! We finally got invitation for interview. It will be 12th november.


3.12.2018 - We applied rp for my husband
13.10.2019- We received invitation for interview
12.11.2019- Interview will take place In Oulu migration office.

My wife got her residence permit 4 days ago . It took a little more than one month.

Hi Stefani ,you are not alone,I'm a Ugandan here still waiting patiently we sent our certificate for legalisation and registration and by March we were registered ,then in July I applied my permit on line then was booked for appointment/ verification and biometrics in August and my interview is scheduled I'm DEC 2019 ,so being real and waiting patiently is okay.

It took 2 weeks to legalize our marriage in Embassy of Finland in Nairobi last year... After the Embassy sent our legalized marriage certificate to register in maistratti.later applied this year in March and it took ages to get appointment at the Embassy..after biometrics and fingerprints was booked for an interview with Vfs in August 19th and my husband last week answered 16 questions.
