What information do you see when someone scans their bus card in the card reader? Do you see their Personal Identification Number, Address, Phone number, etc? These informations are mandatory these days while filling up the form for card.
I would certainly not be comfortable my PIN, Phone number being widely accessible. How does HSL and its subcontractors deals with if cases of identity theft?
Any bus drivers here?

It’s a NFC chip so you might want to read the info yourself to check what is on it. The driver has no need for personal information so I would hope none is shown (it would be illegal as well).nimap wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2019 11:46 pmWhat information do you see when someone scans their bus card in the card reader? The mobile NFC reader shows only the validity and remaining balance, no any personal information. I doubt bus drivers are shown just those limited information.betelgeuse wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:57 amIt’s a NFC chip so you might want to read the info yourself to check what is on it. wouldn't it be useful for the driver to know if a children's travel card is being used by an adult?betelgeuse wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:57 amThe driver has no need for personal information so I would hope none is shown (it would be illegal as well).
and just because personal information isn't stored on the card itself (probably just some identification code) doesn't mean the information can't be retrieved from the database - all the information you submitted when applying for the card.
it would seem that if the transport authority wants to offer different prices to different people (even depending on what street you live in) then that needs to be retrievable when on the bus.

I could have been more precise and say the driver does not have need for any information that uniquely identifies you. Things like age verification can be done with categories rather than exact age.riku2 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 3:28 pmwouldn't it be useful for the driver to know if a children's travel card is being used by an adult?betelgeuse wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:57 amThe driver has no need for personal information so I would hope none is shown (it would be illegal as well).
